Who are we?

At AFO, our mission is to bridge the divides within the African community residing in the United States. As you may know, individuals from various tribes and cultures across the African continent have made their homes here, all in pursuit of a better future for themselves and their families—both here and abroad.

Unfortunately, a lack of trust among us has hindered our ability to achieve the progress we are capable of if we were to unite. Currently, our presence and influence in federal, state, and local governments are minimal. Even those few who do hold positions of influence often lack the collective support needed to drive meaningful change on behalf of our broader community.

AFO seeks to address this by first understanding the true size and reach of our African population within the United States. Our goal is to bring individuals together under one collective identity—not divided by tribal lines, but united in shared purpose and vision.

One of our greatest challenges remains the absence of trust—both in one another and in the process of long-term, collective action. Overcoming this mindset is essential if we are to build lasting unity and progress together.

CHALLENGE TO YOU

Our Challenge to You as a Fellow African:

Can you rise above the barrier of mistrust and join this collective mission with an open heart and mind?

Can you support a shared vision by following leadership, even when you are not the one leading?

Can you trust a clearly communicated process, allowing it time to prove its effectiveness before casting doubt?

Can you commit to following a collective strategy for one full year to witness the power of unity in action?

Can you encourage your fellow Africans—friends, neighbors, and community members—to participate in this census and see what we can truly accomplish when we stand together, not as fragmented groups, but as a united people?

At AFO, we challenge you to do what we as Africans have not always been conditioned to do: to come together, to trust, and to act as one.

This is not a criticism—it is a call to rise. A call to build what we’ve long deserved but have yet to fully claim: collective power and progress.
